About This Spot

Stepping into The BoneYard Bar-B-Q on Telegraph Road feels like slipping into a long-held neighborhood ritual, where the scent of smoked meats and savory sauces wraps around you almost like an old friend’s embrace. The atmosphere hums with a steady, comfortable energy—lively enough to remind you that the kitchen is hard at work, yet calm enough to settle in, take your time, and soak in the familiar rhythms of a place that’s been a Dearborn Heights staple for decades.

This isn’t a spot rushing you through your meal or trying to dazzle with trendiness. Instead, it offers that rare warmth of a dependable local gathering, where the pace invites conversation and connection as much as it does good food. You’ll notice the subtle details: the casual chatter drifting across tables, the attentive care in plating generous portions, and the thoughtful touches like house-made sauces that carry unique, bold flavors. Here, sauces and dressings aren’t just condiments — they’re quietly celebrated ingredients that frame the smoky, hearty ribs and chicken with character and balance.

Meals often arrive ready for sharing, reflecting the communal spirit that defines The BoneYard experience. Whether you’re indulging in classic combos or savoring a robust salad with a dressing that makes its presence felt, the offerings encourage an easy, comfortable enjoyment. It’s a place where regulars return time and again, drawn by a consistent sense of home-cooked barbecue goodness that feels both familiar and, at times, pleasantly surprising.

All the while, the hum of activity in the kitchen reminds you of the craft and tradition behind every plate, while the familiar scents tease the anticipation of a meal best enjoyed with company. The BoneYard is more than a barbecue restaurant — it’s a longtime friend in the neighborhood, where moments and meals come together in simple, satisfying harmony.

I'd like to start by saying the longevity of this place kind of speaks for itself. I've been coming here since the early 90s and it's never fell off. I Personally love that the sauces and dressing are in-house. The Greek dressing is bold and has a flavor that is unique from other places. The BBQ sauce is really good, tangy and sweet that definitely sets off the ribs and chicken. I really like that the chicken is broasted , it's always juicy, and the outside has that awesome crunch. ( Not many places offer broasted anymore) The ribs are always cooked perfectly , big bones, and have good bark. One of my favorites is the Boneyard burger, a pork/ beef mix that's a hefty 1 pound slab of deliciousness so big 2 slices of American cheese fit across it. It comes on two thick pieces of fresh baked garlic bread and I dare you to try and eat it all. Lol. The menu here is diverse and full of combination plates to satisfy whatever craving you have. The steak is always cooked to perfection, juicy and has that charbroiled taste. Their signature potatoes, the cottage fries, are excellent. Thick sliced, firm , but not soggy. Price point, this place is very reasonable and competitive. You will always get a great deal of food and quality for your money. My last visit there I was granted the honor of being the very last customer before they closed. The manager there got me in a seat and had me on my way to food bliss in a flash. I was politely greeted and waited on by a server named Laura who awesome and very attentive to my needs. (Especially the bud lights). Lol I took my time making a choice ( always a challenge) , and went with the ribs, shrimp and broasted chicken. For being so close to closing , everything was prompt, fresh and not leftover stuff that was just sitting. The manager was not afraid to help his wait staff gathering things or speeding things along. Sign of good leadership, I don't see a lot often, kudos to him. I was first presented with a heaping pile of ice cold coleslaw that was very tasty. The freshness should be noted, nothing soggy or wilted. Not long after, a platter spilling from the sides is seen coming to the table. I hadn't eaten anything all day, so I was ready. Needless to say the food looked top tier, as always . The chicken was super juicy and golden brown on the outside, the shrimp were huge and perfectly battered, and ribs were super moist and delicious. I ate till I couldn't no more. This dinner could have easily fed 2 people. Laura could see that I was taking some home and swiftly came in with to go boxes . (She was a sweetheart) To my surprise I was blessed with a dessert , turtle cheese cake, as a customer appreciation at additional no charge!. Best slice of cheesecake I had in a long time. I have to add that they have a variety of desserts to choose from , something for everyone. In closing this place has great tasting food and quality service. Just about anyone would enjoy the menu and atmosphere. It definitely has stood the test of time and has never faultured. This will always be one of my favorite places on this side of town, thanks Boneyard

I am definitely not a “Yelper Special” type of food critic, so don’t expect me to type up a WoRD SaLaDd. I’ll keep it short and sweet. The food came from the menu to my ViP Booth fairly fast (20-30mic) or so. And the Margaritas are pretty decent. There’s definitely a lot of activity in the kitchen for sure. Their product has got to be at least a 7 out of 10 stars if I’m being honest. I’d give them 10 out of 10 but then that’d be the booze doing all the talking. lol Good margaritas! Great selection of beer and wine too if you’re into that. Anyhow, I got a chance to meet the manager who greeted me immediately as I wandered into the restaurant. Complements to the entire shift’s crew! The cook, Logan The crew, Jessica and Megan And the Managers Suzie n Eve

The BoneYard is still serving delicious classic BBQ! I ordered a big carryout to pick up at the end of the night and they did a great job! BBQ ribs & chicken, pulled pork, roasted potatoes and greek salad, were all fantastic. Pulled pork was my personal favorite And they didn't forget a thing! (and we all know the carryout/drive thru places always forget stuff!) We'll be ordering carryout a lot more often!

Good prices BIG portions quality food. Why not a 5 star? The rib tasted like it was left from yesterday and was a little tough. The sauce was just ok. Upon arriving, you have this delicious aroma of smoked ribs and meat.. Well, my taste buds did not experience that so I was disappointed. Also, the Greek salad dressing was very vinegary. I couldn’t enjoy the salad because of the twang. The place could use a few updates, especially the bathroom. Staff was polite and did get us everything that we needed. The shrimp were excellent. The broasted chicken was a little tough. Disappointed in the breasted chicken it was very salty. Coleslaw could’ve been a little more creamer, but was not the worst. I’ve had the price point was exceptional for the amount of food that you did get. I absolutely love the French onion soup. The onions were real and not overcooked.

We’ve been enjoying the Family Special here for decades—it’s a tradition we always look forward to. The portions are generous and perfect for sharing. I recommend asking for the salad dressing on the side; it can be a bit heavy otherwise. One minor hiccup on our last visit was the bread, which tasted a bit stale—something we’ve never experienced here before. Still, the food and service keep us coming back. A great spot for comforting, family-style meals!

Very friendly staff. Wait staff have a good sense of humor. Well laid out inside, good amount of room. Had the lunch combo with 3 ribs & 1/4 chicken, all BBQ. Chicken is available broasted, too. All come with slaw has cottage fries plus a slab of garlic toast. The ribs could use a bit more time to break down that soft tissue but had decent flavor. The chicken was literally falling off the bone, very tender. Coleslaw was a bit soupy but decently, if lightly, flavored. There is only one sauce, also lightly flavored. A selection of flavors would be nice. Hot sauce is available, too.
